Billing notifications are for information only. They don’t affect your pipelines, jobs, or Maia—a notification simply tells you that credit usage has crossed a threshold.
How billing notifications work
Billing notifications are generated from the budgets and thresholds you configure on the Budgets and alerts page. Each project—and the account budget—has a single entry on the Billing tab of the Notifications page, where you add the delivery channels for it. That single entry covers both the annual and monthly periods for its scope, so you don’t need a separate notification for each period. Configure a budget with thresholds on the Budgets and alerts page first. Only scopes—the account, or a project—that already have a budget configured appear when you add a notification here.Delivery channels are per-user. Seeing an entry on the Billing tab doesn’t mean you’ll be notified—you receive a notification only through the delivery channels you add for yourself. When one user adds a channel, only that user is notified. Any other user who wants the alerts sees the same entry with a dash in the Delivery column and must add their own delivery channels to receive it.The exception is the account’s annual Warning and Critical threshold alerts and the overage alert, which Maia always emails to all Billing Admins and Super Admins, regardless of their individual delivery settings.
- Account: Tracks total credit consumption across every project.
- Project: Sets a credit limit for one or more individual projects.
- Warning: The first alert point.
- Critical: The second alert point, for a higher level of urgency.
- Overage alert (account only): Sent when consumption exceeds 100% of your account’s credit allowance. Maia always emails it to all Billing Admins and Super Admins.
- 100% budget alert (project only): Sent when a project has used 100% of the budget allocated to it. It tells you the project’s allocation is spent—it isn’t an overage alert.

When you select Email, notifications are sent to the email address associated with your Maia account. No additional setup is required. Once you select Email and click Save, notifications are delivered automatically when your thresholds are crossed.

After adding a notification, its entry on the Billing tab shows the delivery channels you selected.Edit a billing notification
- On the Billing tab, click the … (more options) icon next to the notification you want to update.
- Click Edit.
- On the Edit billing notification page, review the notification’s project, budget, and thresholds. These are read-only here—to change them, use the Budgets and alerts page instead.
- Update your delivery channel selections.
- Click Save.
Delete a billing notification
- On the Billing tab, click the … (more options) icon next to the notification you want to remove.
- Click Delete.
- Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Deleting a notification removes its delivery channels only—it doesn’t delete the underlying budget or thresholds, which are managed on the Budgets and alerts page.
